» strvnwritr - Working from Home

Working from home really can be a way to strike a balance between career and family. Just be forewarned, though: Being a stay-at-home mom and being a work-at-home mom are two entirely different things. Working from home requires a committment of time, just as it would if you were going into an office. And so, don't be surprised to find the hamper overflowing now and then or dust bunnies under the couch. The "good" news is, those things will still be there when you have time to get to them!

As a work-from-home mom, I struggle with setting reasonable goals for my earnings. I know goals should come from within, but I'd like to have some way of figuring out how much is a meaningful contribution. If I were in a full-time position, I'd be earning a substantial income. Working from home, I am not willing to work the same hours as I did when I was full-time in an office. My child comes first. But what is a reasonable self-employment income? I can't use pre-kid self-employment incomes as a benchmark. How much do others earn?

Great question! How do you judge what you should be making if you have nothing to go on? Please read the latest article at Self Employment, where I have attempted to answer some of your questions.
