I think one of the reasons people work for themselves is because they are motivated by intrinsic rewards, in other words, they are motivated internally to accomplish certain things and don't necessarily need that outside praise that can come from an employment situation. Then again, it is always nice to be able to tell someone else about what you've accomplished and hear them ooh and ahh. =)
