A lot of people are under the mistaken impression that passive income doesn't require a lot of work and that is both true and false. Once an income stream is in place and established, then it certainly won't require as much work to produce profits. As a matter of fact, in some cases, very little, if any, maintenance will be required. Work is necessary, however, to set things in motion and grow that stream of income from a trickle into a torrent of cash.
Suppose, for example, that one would like to earn residuals from writing. To do this, one will obviously need to work hard to write several articles. Simply writing articles, however, won't be enough. To be successful, the articles must incorporate search engine optimization and be of the utmost quality to entice readers to click-through from the search results. Also, in order to truly succeed in this scenario, hundreds or even thousands of articles will need to be written. It is only once all of that has been done that this passive income stream will reach the tipping point and become a low-maintenance earner.
Multiple Income Streams Provide Added Security
There are a number of ways to earn passive income and it really is wise to concentrate on implementing multiple income streams. Imagine, for a moment, if the writer in the aforementioned scenario were to invest hours creating thousands of articles only to have that particular site go offline. Then they would be left with nothing. Their residual income would vanish and they would be left with no option other than to start all over again.
That is why it is so important, when focusing on earning passive income, to implement several streams of income. It may take more effort in the beginning to focus on several streams of income, but the added security will be worth the effort. Should one stream dry up, the others will continue to earn.
