Is using work at home forums a good way to find new opportunities...or a good way to waste the workday? Does it help to be self employed and social?

There are a lot of compelling sites out there on the Internet, but can using work at home forums and discussion groups really help you in your career goals? Being self employed and social at the same time don’t seem to mix, or really fit into the nature of the business.

Could using work at home forums make finding all those work at home job opportunities a little easier, or is it more likely they’ll help you waste valuable time?

Being Self Employed, and Social

Finding and using work at home forums and discussion groups is incredibly easy - there’s a whole lot of them out there to pick from. Many tout work at home job opportunities, great self employment ideas and a whole community that’s dedicated to sharing tips and advice. Can you buy into the hype that being self employed and social is a good way to pass the time even as you further your career?

In many cases, online work at home forums will be somewhat like the great California gold rush. There are a lot of prospectors out there wading through the same information, hoping to find something usable in all the muck. Very good work at home forums will contain some very strong topic posts that read much like articles, with comments coming in the form of reply posts. Other posts will offer a lot of general chitchat and many different links. Work at home professionals who spend some time searching through these forums may find links to companies offering work at home job opportunities, though in some cases the posts and links will be out-of-date.

Using Work at Home Forums

Though it may take time to find anything truly useful in the way of work at home job opportunities or self employment ideas, using work at home forums isn’t altogether a bad idea. These forums can be a great vehicle for posting questions and receiving many useful answers, for exchanging tips and announcements on the myriad of work at home scams out there and even for finding some viable work at home job opportunities.

Using work at home forums and discussion groups can be time-consuming, but it can also help professionals learn more about their craft and perhaps even improve upon their skills. Being self employed and social can go hand-in-hand, as work at home is often a difficult path to pursue. By sharing information and offering advice, work at home professionals can learn from the mistakes and successes of others as well as from their own.
