Does Self Employment Work Like That?

Want to be self employed? While it might be nice to jump in with both barrels blazing, quick money at home isn't so easy...or probable.

Everyone wants to learn how to make money at home, and everyone wants to know how to make that money right now. But, even when there are work at home jobs out there and self employment seems to be a success, getting money at home doesn’t always work quickly. Sometimes, it doesn’t really seem to work at all.

How Self Employment Works…or Doesn’t

It would be nice if every single employer out there really did everything they promise, paid every single assignment in a timely fashion, and always assigned more work (but only when it’s convenient to the self employed professional they’re contacting). Unfortunately, self employment doesn’t work anything like that. Lots of jobs are conducted through email only, and some employers reveal very little about themselves beyond an email identity. Payments can often easily be conducted through paypal, but even this doesn’t keep employers from dragging their feet when it comes to making payments. Self employment is often tricky and sometimes a little messy – and there are times when work goes completely unpaid and employers seem to completely disappear.

Quick Money, Even at Home

Despite the ups and downs, self employment can be very rewarding (just not always in a financial sense). When the goal is quick money at home, look for ways to make a little extra money from home. The Internet offers a lot of opportunity for quick money, and many self employed professionals keep running blogs to earn a little extra cash.

Self Employment and Money

Budget becomes very important in self employment, because quick cash at home usually isn’t the work at home reality. Having a backup (like a little bit of money stashed away somewhere) or a bit of extra income can make a huge difference (such as having lights, or having food when money is extremely tight). Even paypal doesn’t always promise instant money, and brow-beating employers to gain compensation for services rendered very rarely produces happy results. Knowing how to plan ahead is an essential ingredient for self employment success, but it’s just as important to learn not to count money that isn’t there. Even when employers promise to provide funds by a certain date, they can always ignore their deadlines – never depend on money that hasn’t actually arrived. Quick money at home would be nice, but the self employment reality is all about budgeting, being careful, and learning how to stay financially afloat.
