Making money with work at home jobs sounds fabulous, but is self employment really all its cracked up to be? Not everyone can handle being on their own.

The Internet ads are everywhere. The possibilities are said to be endless. The advertisements make it sound so easy. But, is making money with work at home really all its cracked up to be? If the ads and endless propaganda are to be believed, anyone can make money with work at home jobs. But can anyone turn work at home into a self employment career?

Working all alone isn’t something that appeals to everyone, and the truth is there are few careers as lonely as self employment. While work at home offers a great deal of freedom (and that sounds awfully attractive to those who work in large factories or office buildings that house hundreds of employees and maintain strict schedules), it also means going it alone. There is nothing to “fall back on,” and often there isn’t even a Plan B. No one is there for backup or to answer questions. In a lot of ways, making money with work at home is a scary experience.

But making money with work at home looks so easy on the Internet! The huge variety of clever scams and spam techniques found on the Internet often do more to dissuade self employed professionals than to help them find true employment, but work at home jobs do exist in an online environment. Finding them is the hard part. Those who are interested in self employment goals and work at home jobs should search for opportunities through reputable job boards, instead of doing random job searches with major online search engines.

Even when finding work at home jobs or staying on schedule isn’t the problem, making money with work at home isn’t “easier” than having a “regular job.” In fact, being self employed can be a very difficult career path. There are a lot of ups and downs, and learning how to budget is a key factor. Money doesn’t come in regularly, and no one is there to be the boss or set the schedules. Making money with work at home is often thought to be simple, effortless, and to take up much less time than a traditional 9 to 5 gig. But many self employed professionals work more hours a week than 40, and don’t get two days out of the week off. Especially in the beginning, making money with work at home is often hit or miss – and that makes it hard to master. Is it all its cracked up to be? Making money with work at home is different for everyone – and it’s almost never easy.
